Lennon thinks that 2 minutes is the only time there is. She was just playing with some toys with her papa and he asked her how long a toy was? Her answer : two minutes! Also every time we go out and I tell her it's time to leave she always says " two more minutes mom, please". I have caught her with her toys also giving them two minute time-outs and letting them stay for two more minutes!

"Dad you're in big trouble. You didn't take care of it. You are supposed to shovel the snow and Mom fell with Holland and I fell and now my knees are all jacked up."

She completely heard my phone conversation to her Papa and repeated it the next day! I really slipped on some ice with the car seat in tow and while holding Lennon's hand (so she wouldn't fall was what I told her), dragging her down. You better believe I called Mike when I got home and told him my knee was "jacked up!"

Gotta love 3 year olds. They are beyond hilarious and keep you on your toes! I can't imagine being a person that doesn't like kids or want them... boring!

Our precious Lala, as we call her around here, can now say Mama & Papa! It is sooo cute :) She is not too into crawling (which is quite nice, not complaining) but she does roll everywhere she wants to go. She sort of scoots around and mostly goes backwards. I know crawling is somewhere soon on the horizon. Yesterday I put her in the Bumbo chair to try to contain her while I got some stuff done and Lennon came running in saying Mom, sisters out of her chair. Sure enough she had maneuvered her way out and was clear across the room! I had a semi freak out for a second wondering where she was until I spotted her. Anyway, we think she's pretty damn cute and we're keeping her!

We took Lennon to Cookie Cutters for her first hair cut! Her hair was in much need of a few inches trim and we (who are we kidding? I mean I) were super sick of trying to comb through a billion tangles. She did a great job and wasn't scared at all. Even with 2 kids coming in and sitting right next to her who proceeded to freak out so bad! Mike said if that was his kid he would have beat them, haha! Lennon picked the airplane to sit in and the movie Robots to watch.

I took this a few days before her haircut to show how long and curly her hair is! So cute! Note the toothbrush... Yes, we do actually brush her teeth even though she has 7 cavities! What can I say, the girl lucked out and got my awesome teeth genes! Lucky!

I am so glad I have two girls! So lucky! They are sisters and the bes of friends. Here are a couple of pictures I have snapped lately. I took these for our Christmas cards. And they are the first Xmas cards I have done since being married for 7 years. I figured it was about time :)

Wonder Pets, Wonder Pets

This year our kiddies were the Wonderpets, one of Lennon's favorite cartoons. Lennon was Tuck the turtle and Holland was Ming Ming the duck. The costumes turned out so cute - especially for deciding to have them be that at the last minute. And espec cause I do not sew...and I made the capes myself! They are not that great, but I am proud of my first solo sewing project. I had already bought the duck costume for Lala months prior. It just so happened Francie had a turtle costume in her stash too, so we brainstormed the Wonderpets! Here's the snapshots from the big night.

It ended up raining all night Halloween, but that didn't stop miss Lennon from going trickortreating! We tagged along for a bit until we were too wet. Then papa stayed out with Len for the rest of the time. They came home only cause Len had an accident! I don't blame her though. Getting candy is VERY important, and it;s easy to forget to go potty! (Plus they were out in the neighborhood nowhere near our house)

We have been having a blast so far this summer. Mama went back to work, so every day off we all try to do something fun! Lennon really loves the pools. Holland has still not gotten in, but I'm sure she will soon. Gramaluv got her the cutest swim suit ever so we will have to try it on!

Cabin Fun with the Watkins

We went to our cabin for the weekend. Arrived Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday. (the drive home ended up taking us 2 extra hours! ahhh the joys of traveling with a newborn!) Our friends the Watkins came up early Saturday morning - in fact they woke us up, which is impressive since it takes 3 hours to get there!!

We spent the weekend 4wheeling & enjoying the fresh mountain air. I love the air and the water up there. It is so nice to just be away from city life for a few days.

I have to document the funny things she's said lately. Today she pooped and said "smells like papa" while Mike changed her diaper. Yesterday she threw a tantrum saying "I want to go peepee" over and over and over and over and over. (We were going to the store and she wanted to go on the potty first so she could get a toy, but she couldn't go.)

Pops asked her if she liked Holland and she said "no that's mamas!"

Holland is such a chunk- she weighs ten pounds now! She is so cute! Her personality is a lot fussier than Lennon was and she LOVES being held. Doesn't really do the swing or the seat, until she's asleep and then you can put her down. We love having her in our family including Lennon! Lennon is totally warming up to her now (thank goodness). Mike asked her today if she loves her baby sister Holland and she said YES! He also asked her if we should give her away or keep her and she said to keep her - yay! I caught her giving her the binky yesterday. She was very patient and held it to her mouth until she had it good.

Francie and Sam came up to our hood last week so we could take the kids to the park & eat the lunch special at Su Casa! YUM! The kids had a blast swinging & then going on the rides before we left. Lennon threw a major tantrum as we were leaving (see picture). We are now giving her to the count of three to do what we ask or she gets a timeout. It has been working brilliantly (thanks France)! Before that we were just threatening her with you will be in big trouble but then never following through with anything so she never cared. I even heard her playing with some toys saying "you'll be in big trouble".

Having two kids has been a challenge! I am sure it will get better with time. Right now we are all trying to adjust. Lennon is having a hard time with her new sister. She won't really get close to her or touch her yet! She says to me every day "put the baby down, hold me." OUCH! It makes me feel so bad.

Yesterday at Hollands 2 week Dr. appointment the Dr. took off her cord so now she can take a bath. I gave the girls a bath together today and Lennon was helping to wash her and pour water on her to rinse her off! Hopefully that is a good sign that we're making progress on the adjustment.

The baby has a new name! It was Holland for the longest time and we're going back to it! It's kind of weird to change it, but she is only a week old and I just keep feeling like I want her original name. We let people talk us out of that name because they said that everyone would call her Holly, but they won't. If they do we will correct them. Holland and Holly are two different names. So DON'T call her Holly! We do love Monroe, but I hated how everyone was not pronouncing it Munroe, they were saying Monnrow in this total Utah accent and it was killing me! Anyway I feel so relieved to not be stressing out over her name anymore. If we have anymore kids we will not tell anyone the name until their birth! :)

Monroe James

Our newest addition arrived Monday May 3rd at 5:54pm. She is 21 inches long and 7.5 pounds. She looks like Lennon through the eyes and then like my family from the nose down. She has strawberry blond hair, which is crazy! It is still curly like Lennon's! Lennon is pretty unsure of her so far, but she is getting a little better. She just doesn't want to hold her or touch her, but she likes to watch her and check her out. When Roe cries Lennon starts doing a fake cry too.

The delivery went great! I got to the hospital at 11:00 and got checked in and in the delivery room. They started me on the pitocin by 12ish and Dr. Terry broke my water around 2. I got an epidural at 3ish and then progressed pretty quick. I think I only had to push about three times and she came right out. Claudia (mike's Mama), My Mama and Shannon were in the room with us. This time I watched the whole thing in a mirror and it was awesome! I am so mad nobody told me that when I had Lennon. But it was so cool and amazing to see Monroe arrive!

We are loving having her here! It is a lot of work with Lennon and I feel like I am neglecting her right now. Luckily my Sisters have been a huge help coming and spending all day over here. My recovery is not the greatest, but she is totally worth it. I am hoping by Monday I will be feeling a lot better.

She is a great baby so far. I really can't get over how light her hair is! Also her eyelashes and eyebrows are white too. Mike, Lennon and me all have black eyelashes and eyebrows and dark brown hair, so it's just so weird. In fact she really looks like she could be one of Francie's kids!

Tomorrow I have to go get her bilirubin checked. I also have to get the little attachment under her tongue cut. Hers goes all the way to the end of her tongue! If she sticks her tongue out far enough, it is like a lizard tongue because of that flap being out so far. I feel bad to go get it cut :(

I am totally loving my life right now. I am so blessed to have another angel in my life to raise and watch grow up! It is such an exciting feeling! I want to spend every second with both of my children.

I really hate going to Hogle Zoo, but I have been trying to do fun things with Lennon before her baby sister rocks her world & we are trapped at home for a while. I completely forgot about the size of the zoo and all the hills, which was really fun pushing her around while nine months pregnant! Oh well, I survived.

The 2 zebras recently died and Lennon was saying "zebras dead" so matter of fact and so loud. Since then she has said when asked what the babies name is "babies dead". Nice!

I took Lennon to Lactation Station yesterday. We walked in and there was a little airplane toy on a high shelf. Lennon immediately says "baby sister would love that airplane. Get it for baby sister". Seriously! How cute and thoughtful she said that & how smart is she?! I can't believe she can make out those sentences!

We have a little pitty that we put her on to try and get her excited about going. So far she hasn't actually gone, but it's hilarious when we put her on it. She gets very serious, kinda turns red trying to go so hard and then says "I can't do it". I am going to film it because it's so funny! I'm sure you have to see it and you will love it too.

Today was the best day ever! I got an hour massage with hot stones and it was awesome. While I was driving home I thought hmm I think I'll see about getting a pedicure, there was no wait, so I did! Then when I got home Lennon was being so cute. She told me I went and got tickles and rubs. (I love the way she says rubs!) OH and not to forget Mike and Lennon cleaned the whole house for me "because it would make mama so happy" as Lennon said.

Len got a kick out of my pink toes so I offered to paint hers and of course she obliged! She could hardly sit still 30 seconds so it was tricky. Luckily we were outside too because the bottle got spilled all over!

When I put her down to nap I also took a 2 hour nap! Seriously, the best day ever :) I am trying to cherish my last moments with Lennon before her sister is here. It is going great now that i have this new attitude about it. Plus it is the last time I will be pregnant so i am trying to enjoy that part also!

36 weeks

But who's counting?...oh yeah ME! I am freaking out about going from 1 to 2! It is scary. Of course I am excited to meet the baby and see her, but I have the normal worries of taking care of two kids & making sure Lennon still feels important & loved. I am sure it will be fine, but sometimes I get nervous about it.

I washed the car seat all out tonight. Whoever wrote the instructions on taking off the cover is a complete moron! I spent almost an hour trying to figure it out. Only to realize the instructions did not even tell me the most important step, which I figured out on my own! I was so close to buying a new one. I'm sure now that I have that all ready she will not come early at all, maybe even late.

We got a double stroller from my Mama & Papa too! It is so funny because Lennon loves it like it's some kind of toy. She wouldn't get out of it at BabiesRUs. We finally convinced her to and told her Papa would bring it home after work. First thing when Mike walks in she says "my stroller" and he ahd not picked it up! We told her the store was closed. We cannot believe her memory! She does not forget one thing you tell her. It is amazing! Anyway, Mike brought it home the next day and it is set up in our living room. She watched cartoons from it this morning! Hilarious.

We took her to the aquarium today which was fun, but way too crowded. They just got penguins there so I guess half of the state had the same idea we did. We had to wait in a line to even get in and Lennon says "too much people!" That was hilarious too. She said it a few more times when we were in line. The penguins are really cute, but not worth that madness. The octopus laid eggs too, so it would be neat to go back and see if any hatch.

We took Lennon to fly her first kite today! Shannon got me this kite for my birthday, but don't try to tell Lennon it's mine - according to her "It's mine!" (which she says about a LOT of things lately) Anyway, it was such a blast watching her see this for the first time. It was one of those times seeing something through her eyes was like reliving it for the first time.

The other day I asked Lennon if we should name the baby Olive. She looked at me very serious/confused and said "No.... I eat it. Baby name medicine." hahah! (she had eaten olives earlier for lunch and she is on amoxocillin right now) I died laughing. It was so funny with the facial expression she made!

Currently baby twos name is Olive James. So cute! If you don't like it, we don't like you!

We got our house sprayed for spiders the other day and now Lennon keeps saying spiders go bye. No spiders here, bye spiders.

This baby gets hiccups about 6 times a day! It's so funny. I remember Lennon getting them every once in a while, but not like this. It seems like after every meal I eat she gets them! I can't wait to see what this little hiccup machine will look like.

She is currently "baby two". We cannot decide on a name. I guess the current names in the running are Finley Frances or Holland James (which used to be her name but is not anymore, I don't know how that happened. If anyone reads my blog anymore let me know what you think. And not Jolene, Shannon. That name is terrible!

Yesterday Lennon was being naughty. She started smacking herself in the head, which she does when she's super mad. Then she went and put herself into time out! Mike and I hadn't said anything - we were both watching her stunned at her behaviour.

Hogle zoo makes me sad. Actually the only reason we went is because we have a season pass to Tracy Aviary and the first Thursday of the month you get into the zoo free (technically that's not supporting it?), but it is fun to take Lennon to see the animals. I am dying to go see Zuri, the new baby elephant. I am even willing to pay to see her. Lucky for me it is freezing weather now, so I hope we will get a chance to go see her. Just what the world needs is another SMITH- so we are adding one more! We are having a baby in early May. I am about 8 weeks. We are excited/very sick! This time around has been rough so far. Wish us luck with everything because we are dunzos after this. Hopefully it's a boy so we will have one of each. (although I would not mind a girl at all, and we have all the stuff)

I am considering a natural birth. We also threw the idea around to not find out the sex. Mike laughed and said YOU will never be able to handle that! It's a nice thought though. I really don't know how people can wait to find out. Maybe, just maybe, we will be one of those people.

In other news Lennon said a 4 word sentence! I asked her where her treat cup was and she says "treat cup in there." I was shocked! We went in her room and I still didn't see the cup, until she pointed to it and said "there." The girl's a genius! haha! She can draw a perfect circle too. She is obsessed with drawing circles?? And the girl is OBSESSED with Yo Gabba Gabba. Like a crazy obsession. That's what we're being for Halloween-our favorite holiday.

Please tell me why you would buy your fresh produce at a grocery store right now. There are Farmers markets going on all over. I don't get how you could go to Smith's or Costco and purchase tomatoes, peaches, blackberries, peppers, corn, carrots, potatoes, garlic, etc. Have you ever tried a garden fresh grown tomato or peach or anything mentioned above? They do not even compare to store bought AT ALL! Store bought ones taste like they were picked not ripe (wait- because they weren't), shipped in from Mexico and covered in tons of pesticides-not to mention who knows what else.

Come on, support our local farmers that make a living this way. Not only are you helping out your neighbor, but you will eat something that tastes like what it really is! You can ask them when it was picked and it's usually this morning. How awesome is that?

Oh and while we're on the subject-Lennon had her first happy meal the other day (hopefully her last, hah). I thought hmm I'll get her something healthy, the apple dippers. What the hell are those things? They did not even taste like an apple at all! They were some kind of genetically engineered extremely, crunchy thing. Lennon would not go near them (thank God). I wonder just how many days they have been peeled before you eat them, because they were in no way turning the usual brown color that a natural apple does. shudder. Sick!

Everyone-including me for sure, needs to be more conscious of what you are ingesting into your body. Think, why do so many Americans develop cancer? Could it be our horrible diets? I think that's definitely the reason. When you can't pronounce the ingredients in your food, there are 95 ingredients in it & they all appear to be at least 18 letters long, which you vaguely remember doing some kind of science experiment with that in 12th grade chemistry, that can't be a good idea to eat that. Food isn't supposed to stay fresh for 2-5 years. I don't know, I guess I'm just weird?! Eating a chemical substance that is made using chlorine & sugar, and discovered while performing yet again an experiment (a tasty, tasty one at that ;)), that scares me. I really don't care if it has more calories to eat real sugar. Bring on the organic, all natural sugar, baby. Because think about it food/drinks have calories! And if you're eating/drinking something that doesn't have calories, what the fuck are you eating/drinking? You can't cheat the system. You're drinking/eating straight nasty chemical funk.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Call it a case of high tech meeting low tech, really the lowest of tech.

Satellites are locating penguin waste, which is easier to find than the penguins themselves

British scientists are using pictures from high-powered satellites to pinpoint emperor penguin colonies in Antarctica.

The penguins are difficult to pick up on sea ice, because of their natural camouflage that helps them blend into the shadows -- so the British Antarctic Survey had to come up with another method.

Fortunately, penguin waste shows up nicely from space, staining the ice a light brown.

"We can't see actual penguins on the satellite maps because the resolution isn't good enough," said mapping expert Peter Fretwell. "But during the breeding season the birds stay at a colony for eight months. The ice gets pretty dirty and it's the guano stains that we can see."

The method helped scientists identify 38 penguin colonies -- of those, 10 were new. Of previously known colonies, six had re-located and six were not found.

"This is a very exciting development. Now we know exactly where the penguins are, the next step will be to count each colony so we can get a much better picture of population size," said penguin ecologist Phil Trathan.

"Using satellite images combined with counts of penguin numbers puts us in a much better position to monitor future population changes over time."

Estimates put the total number of penguins at between 200,000 and 400,000 breeding pairs.

The other day she dropped her ball and it rolled down the stairs and she said "ball down." Not bad for one and a half! I think she makes up for her delayed walking by talking non stop. It is so cute, we love it.

I'm going to start posting recipes. I don't care if you don't want to see what I eat (Chelsea), the fact is that a good portion of my life is spent cooking so I am sharing recipes & pics of our dinner. You should all do the same so we can get new things to make too.

QUICHE! (we like to call it quee chay)

I thought I hated this, but actually love it! Plus it's a great way to sneak vegetables into your dinner. I always put brocolli, peppers and mushrooms in it.

6 eggs
Ready made Pilsbury pie crust (or you can make your own if you have time)
sour cream
cheese - we like pepper jack
red, yellow & orange peppers
mushrooms
broccoli
PAPRIKA!

Saute broc, peps, and shrooms in butter until soft
Whisk eggs with a little sour cream (you can omit the sour cream if you want), stir in cheese (how ever much you want)
Place crust in bottom of sprayed pie dish
Pour vegetables on to crust
cover with egg and cheese mixture
sprinkle entire quiche with paprika. This makes the quiche sooo yummy and makes a red crust on the top

Bake @ 375 for about 40-50 minutes.

Add a side veggi and voila, easy and so yummy. Plus it makes a great breakfast the next day. I also garnish with avocado and fresh tomatoes.

Park City's Ira Sachs charged with marijuana possession, juvenile endangerment

Park City businessman and bon vivant Ira Sachs, 72, was charged Thursday in Summit County's 3rd District Court with third-degree felonies, including marijuana possession with "intent to distribute" and "endangering a juvenile."

Sachs earlier was booked and released on a $7,775 bond from Summit County Jail. He could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.

For decades, Sachs has been one of Park City's most colorful residents and is known for his friendly demeanor and generosity.

The legal action stems from a Jan. 1 call to the Summit County Sheriff's Office that a suicidal female needed assistance as Sachs' Snyderville Basin residence.

According to court documents filed by County Attorney David Brickey, Sachs invited deputies into his home where they "detected a strong odor of marijuana" and "observed a marijuana pipe" near the suicidal female who was determined to be a juvenile.

Paramedics also responded, but the female, whose name was not released, was unharmed, said Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds.

Deputies sought a warrant after Sachs refused to let them search the house. While conducting a search, they turned up 11 ounces of marijuana in the master bedroom.

Sachs also was charged with third-degree felony child endangerment by "knowingly or intentionally" allowing a minor to ingest a controlled substance.

According to the charging document, a 14-year-old female, who occupies a spare bedroom
in the house with her mother, told deputies that Sachs "leaves his marijuana out for other people to use, and explained that she had smoked marijuana at the New Years Eve party [Sachs] had hosted the previous night."

No trial date has been set.

These pictures are all out of order. I'm taking care of a sick baby today. Lennon got her first ear infection in both ears. Her right side is very bad and her ear drum might rupture and drain. Poor baby! Last night she seriously screamed for 7 hours straight, I felt horrible because I could not do anything for her. We ended up driving all over town at 2 am trying to find an all night instacare. They don't exist. We couldn't afford to take her to the ER and pay 200 bucks. At least when we drove around she slept. I think it felt better than lying down, because of the pressure in her ears. She is the best baby, so last night was terrible for us. Note to self: we are only having one child.

Anyway, on with her birthday pictures. Thanks to everyone that came & we are sorry the snow storm made it so some of you could not come. That is another joy of having a December birthday!

Last year on this day, at this exact time, I was going to the ER because I was "in labor". I had drank castor oil (just thinking about that stuff makes me dry heave) and walked around my neighborhood as fast as I could to induce my labor! Two different people recommended it to me & it worked for both of them. It sort of worked for me, but then my contractions were to close enough together so they gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home. Not to worry because I made my Dr. induce me 2 days later. Lennon was born after midnight so it was technically 3 days later. She is lucky to share her birthday with my cute niece Chloe (not to be confused with my other cute niece Chloe!)

Here are a few ultra sound pictures. I can't believe she is turning one. I can't believe that she was inside me & developed into a baby/person! I have an ultra sound from 6 weeks where she was just a circle blob with a tiny heart flutter. Biology is insane!

Cabin Fever

We went to our cabindo this weekend with some friends & had a blast. We hung out, went 4 wheeling a little & watched our kiddies play. At night Chelsea & Cory taught us a fun dice game called "farkle". I think my favorite thing about the game is that you get to keep saying farkle, and who would not like saying farkle.

One of their favorite things was standing by the coffee table. It makes them feel like they are big kids and can really stand and walk by themselves. They are 6 days apart!
